Sir Future and His Affairs

Sunday, July 22, 2012
Dear Sir Future,

Today I realized that our previously scheduled date arrives somewhat soon.  I must be honest, I have mixed feelings about our meeting.  I am equally enthusiastic and excited as I am apprehensive and anxious about seeing you.  I do look forward to what is to come, but I also find myself dwelling on a few concerns.  It is well known that you and the Lady Fortune often meet.  Of this I have no quarrel and instead see this as advantageous and mutually beneficial.   As it is often said, we are the company we keep.  However, there are some disconcerting rumors about your affairs with the Lady's distant cousin, Ms. Fortune.  This news causes me tremendous anxiety and doubt when contemplating our coming endeavors.  In light of my dear friends Lady Luck and Madame Miracle being on holiday, it would comfort me to know that I will not find myself in the company of Ms. Fortune during our visit.  I quite honestly wish to avoid her at all cost.  I do, however, look forward to seeing what you have planned for my arrival, as I know you always have a surprise or two up your sleeve.  You are always so unpredictable!  Until we meet, I wish you a well and warm-lit path.

Yours truly,
Dutchess of the Indefinite

This GORGEOUS photo is brought to you by the incredibly talented and beautiful Cady Everdeen .  I wrote this entry on my phone last night and I really wanted to post it, but I knew I wouldn't be home for a few days.  I asked on plurk if anyone wanted to submit a pic just for fun, and low and behold, one of my favorite photographers sends me this beauty!  I absolutely adore this picture!  Thank you for your help, Cady!  It's perfect :)

Dearest Beginning

Dearest Beginning,

In writing this letter I am boldly speaking for all of those who have ever met you.  For anyone who has ever come to the end of something in their life, whether good or bad.  Nearly everyone you meet has gained or lost, failed or prospered, or has finally been faced with the daunting life lesson of learning to let go.  Each of these people, myself included, has come to you in range from the high-spirited, wide-eyed, opportunist who just got a break to the broken-hearted, jaded, crushed spirit who needs another chance. Each of these you welcome with open arms and provide a fresh start.  You are the constant encouragement through dark times, you are the still small voice saying "It's okay.  Don't worry.  I'm still here.  Dust yourself off and start again."  Although at times you make facing the most impossible of tasks seem just that, you make failures and missed opportunities seem inconsequential.

So in the name of all of those who have needed you, been changed by you, or will meet you again along life's path---thank you.  Thank you for never letting me give up on myself and others.  Thank you for your quiet encouragement and subtle strength.  Thank you in advance for when we met again.

Indebted,
Bowie Zeplin
